RF Coil Engineer
PulseTeq Limited, develops and manufactures RF coils for a range of applications in neuroscience and for multi-nuclear imaging and spectroscopy. The company is a subsidiary of Renishaw PLC, a major UK engineering company, offering a range of products for industrial metrology and medical applications.
The company is currently seeking to recruit an RF Engineer to join the RF Coil development team. The position will play an important role in the development of new product designs adding to the portfolio of RF Coil products. The post will be involved in all stages of product development from product inception to production. The post will suit a skilled RF Engineer/Physicist ideally familiar with MRI and RF Coil development.
The key outputs and deliverables of the role:
- Design, development and fabrication of working RF coil prototypes
- Circuit simulation and analysis
- Prepare and review design documentation
- Support the development of production/test methodologies within the company, working closely with production engineering function to ensure effective transfer of new designs into production
- Product verification and validation planning and execution
- Involvement in the procurement of parts; liaising with suppliers as necessary to ensure components meet exacting specification
- Provide technical support to other functions within PulseTeq to ensure the company produces products that meet the highest quality and meet customer requirements
- Assure that the quality process is followed and design standards are used for best practise
- Provide Mentoring and support the activities of more junior staff as appropriate
Qualifications and expertise:
All applicants are required to have the following:
- MEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering or BSc Physics
- Skilled in RF circuit analysis
- Demonstrated knowledge of electromagnetic theory
- Familiarity with RF test equipment
- Strong computing skills
Although not essential, it would be desirable if applicants have the following:
- Post graduate/industrial expertise of RF coil design
- Previous industrial expertise in RF Coil product development
- Knowledge of using EM simulation tools/packages
- Expertise in the design of RF electronics and/or antenna design between 10MHz and 400MHz
Person specification:
The ideal candidate will have good communication skills, will work well within a multi-disciplinary engineering team and will be committed to good design and have a good eye for detail. They will be innovative, and will strive to ensure designs are completed within the agreed timeframe to the highest possible standard.
Location:
This role is based at New Mills, Wotton-under-Edge, with occasional travel to customer sites/conferences/exhibitions.

Application Scientist

PulseTeq is currently seeking to recruit an Application Scientist to join the company’s product development group. The position will play an important role in the development of new product designs adding to the portfolio of RF Coil products. The post will be involved in all stages of product development from product inception to production. The post will suit a skilled scientist ideally familiar with MRI and RF Coil development.
The key outputs and deliverables of the role are as follows:
- To work on product definition and product evaluation
- Working both in-house executing verification and validation on the company’s own Philips MRI system and with our customers/collaborators on their scanners
- Ensuring that products truly meet the needs of the customer
- To establish a solid customer base and enhance PulseTeq’s reputation
- Work on the Philips, Siemens and GE scanners for product verification and validation
- To work with customers on product applications and collaborations for future product introduction.
- Provide technical support to other functions within PulseTeq to ensure the company produces products that meet the highest quality and meet customer requirements.
- Assure that the quality process is followed and design standards are used for best practice
- Keep abreast of current technologies in both MRS and MRI.
Qualifications and expertise:
All applicants are required to have either:
- An MSc or BSc (or equivalent) with subsequent relevant industry expertise and a proven track record in product design and verification, ideally on medical devices; or
- A PhD or Post Doctorate within the field of MR spectroscopy or imaging
Although not essential it is desirable if applicants have some direct expertise in operating one or more of the scanners from the three main OEMs: Philips, Siemens and GE. Expertise in RF coil design and calibration would also be advantageous.
Person specification:
The ideal candidate will work well both independently and within a multi-disciplinary engineering team and will be committed to good design and have a good eye for detail. They will have excellent communication and inter-personal skills in their role as the key interface between the customers/collaborators and the company’s engineering team.
Opportunities for career development and training:
Although not a requirement for the position, if the successful applicant held an interest in sales and marketing, further training in this area would be provided.
Location:
This role is based at the New Mills site in Wotton under Edge, Gloucestershire, UK. It will involve regular travel to customer sites/conferences/exhibitions both within the UK and internationally.
